The first step to earning this certification is to start the e-courses available in Academy for Ads, Google’s online training programme. Learning and practising in Google’s academy is free, which allows you to take the courses even if you don’t wish to earn the certification. Just create your Academy for Ads account and get your hands on!

What are the benefits?

So now we’ve reached the question that I wanted to talk about. Why do we have Google Ads specialists in-house? Why did we choose to get certified? Well, the advantages of the Google Ads Certification circle around three factors: trustworthiness, proficiency, and recognition.

  • Trustworthiness: The main reason why you should earn the certification is that your customers will place their trust in your business. We, as a team, demonstrate we’re capable of handling any Google Ads-related problems and challenges. What does the assessment consist of?

To become certified in Google Ads, you need to pass the Google Ads Fundamentals plus one of the product area assessments available through the Academy for Ads: Search Advertising, Display Advertising, Mobile Advertising, Video Advertising, and Shopping Advertising. Previously, Mobile Advertising was included in the reward badge, but it has recently been deprecated, and it will no longer be available from October 2019 onwards.

Two positive aspects: firstly, the Google Ads Certification is available in 19 languages. Secondly, at some point, the product area assessment will expire. To keep your certification, you’ll need to retake both areas, which is a bit of a bother, but it’s totally worth it!
