What is the F8 Conference?

The F8 is Facebook’s annual two-day developers conference, where developers and entrepreneurs will come together to discuss Facebook updates and changes plus ideas for current and upcoming products and services. This year’s F8 edition will, like last year, be held at the San Jose Convention Center in California, on the 1st and 2nd of May.

During this event, new features, ideas and announcements concerning Facebook and its community will be shared with the public. Usually, the Facebook Developer Conference kicks off with a keynote speech by Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, before giving the stage to a host of product managers, developers, entrepreneurs etc. to exchange their ideas and inspirations. Aside from that, they will also offer viewers tips and advice on the industry’s best practices, and how to fully optimise their use of Facebook’s social media.

And you might be wondering where the name F8 originated from. Well, according to Facebook executives, it is derived from the 8 hour hackathons that Facebook traditionally used to encourage back in the social media giant's early days!

During the F8 conference, we’re expecting a wide range of topics, ideas, updates, features and products to be discussed. From exciting product news, to important developer announcements and from future plans to keynote speeches, learning sessions and lots more. You can find the detailed two-day schedule here.
